Wishes to all the Wonderful Women – Alluring Adolescent Girls, Lovely Ladies, Marvelous Mothers, and Gorgeous Grandmas!
Woman, whatever stage we might be in, we love attention, – at any time having a pleasant look is what we would aim for. Following a perfect everyday skincare routine is the first step in achieving a beautiful look.
It also aids in maintaining healthy skin without worrying about acne, scars and dark spots. What matters to the perfect skincare routine is that in which order you layer the skincare processes. Our skin type also plays a major factor in creating a flawless routine.
Whether your skin is normal, oily, dry, or sensitive, the important three steps – CTM (Cleansing, Toning, and Moisturizing) remains the same. The remaining steps may slightly vary because we have to carefully choose the products based on our skin type.
A guide for the correct order of Skincare steps
The routines which we adopt for daytime and nighttime are more or less similar except for few steps, after all, we do not go to sleep with sunscreen and makeup on.

1. Makeup Remover (Cleansing Oil)
When – PM
It is not advisable and safe for your skin to sleep with your makeup on. Removing the makeup should be the first step of your nighttime routine.
This phase helps the second step i.e., Cleansing, much easier. Choose the cleansing oil that is very gentle but effective enough to remove the waterproof mascara. We can also use reusable makeup remover pads.
2. Cleanser
When – AM & PM
Healthy skin means a happy face. So, grab your face cleanser and wash your face first thing in the morning and before going to bed at the night. Washing with a cleanser removes the impurities and the excess oil that are present in your face.
Dermatologists suggest not to use the cleansers more than twice a day. Because doing so will remove the natural oils of your face and break down the skin barrier.
3. Eye Cream
When – AM & PM
Eye Cream is a great option to treat issues like puffy eyes, dark circles and nourishing the areas around your eyes. Take the eye cream and gently apply it by patting it with your ring finger.
Eye creams which consist of peptides, antioxidants, Vitamin E, chamomile and other calming and hydrating ingredients are proven to be much effective.
4. Toner
When – AM & PM
The next step of the daily skincare routine is an optional one. Toners are best known to balance the pH level of the skin and keep them hydrated. Look for the alcohol-free toners probably with hyaluronic acid.
To apply the toner, all you need is a cotton pad. Dip the cotton pad in toner and gently swipe across your face.
5. Serum
When – AM & PM
Serums are targeted at treating the pigmentations and dark spots of your face. The serums for the daytime and the nighttime should be different.
A serum with Vitamin C is the best option for the day as it protects our facial skin from UV rays, pollutants and blue light. For the nighttime, pick the serum with the retinol. Retinol aids in reducing the pore size, increasing the collagen, removing the dead skin and decreasing oil production.
6. Moisturizer
When – AM & PM
Using a moisturizer is a very important step in our skincare routine. Keeping the skin hydrated and strengthening the skin barrier are the benefits of this vital step.
Here again, choose moisturizers with different ingredients for day and nighttime. For the day go with the light moisturizer that will blend quickly with your makeup and select the heavier cream moisturizer for the night.
7. Face Oil
When – AM & PM
While most dermatologists believe, face oil should be the second last stop of the daily routine and the last step of the nighttime routine, some experts say to use it before the moisturizer.
Some may also prefer to mix the oil with the moisturizer and use it. Take a few drops of the oil in your palms and gently apply on to your face.
8. Sun Screen
When – AM & PM
Applying Sun Screen might be the last step but it is not the least important step. In fact, it is the most important and must to do step in the whole routine. One should put on a Sun Screen with at least 30 SPF before proceeding further to the makeup.
Dermatologists insist on applying Sun Screen daily even if you are indoors.
Conclusion
Find the products that would be best suited for your skin type and see the labels for clear instructions and proper usage. Also notice that some products are used only during the night and some are meant only for the day.
Always do a patch test before you try out any new product. This can help you to identify if that product would cause any allergic reactions like irritation, redness or itchiness. In addition to this daily routine, eating healthy foods and staying hydrated will make your skin glow.
